CUCD27 Cinema 4D Installer Fix
Following the demise of CU Amiga magazine, here's a chance for Amiga Format to demonstrate its
magnanimity to those CUA readers frustrated with the final CD offering (CUCD27).
CUCD27 includes the full version 4 of Cinema 4D. Great! Except it won't install from the CD! Perhaps
understandably, they forgot to amend the Installer script file to acknowledge the fact that the
programme is on CUCD27 and not the CD which comes with the commercial package. Therefore, anyone
trying to install the software from CUCD27 will be disappointed to see the Installer shutting
down almost as soon as it starts up.
After struggling with it myself, I managed to modify the script so that everything works properly.
The enclosed Install-Cinema4D-Fix can be used as is. It would seem appropriate to copy the
Install-CINEMA4D-HD icon into RAM: and place CUCD27 in the CD drive when requested. I suppose
it will also load directly from the AFCD and then ask you to swap CDs.
Anyway, it all works a treat, but on opening C4D on the hard drive, you are asked to personalise the
software with your name, address, phone number and the SERIAL NUMBER of the software package. Blast!
CUA also forgot to let anyone know what the serial number is! So even with the programme installed, it
can't be made to run.
This is where AF could really pull out the stops, by getting the serial number from HiSoft and putting all
all those CUA(deceased) readers out of their misery. Since you are reading this from the AFCD, I guess
they did it! Well done AF!
